    Walthamstow Bike Jumble **
People, I 've now discussed this project with its stakeholders and they have agreed to it.

So, my yard sale or private jumble will go ahead on the 9th of May. Opening time will probably be about 10 ish and it will run till about 12 ish. Its a way of passing on stuff I ll never use and for forum members to meet up . It strikes me that it will be more pleasant than e bay.

    What's available ?
Shoot the Breeze has seen my cellar and was struck dumb, within it I have found the following:

    8 -9 stems , ITM and Synchros
    pedals, clips, bars , etc

3 frames that are suitable for fixed/ss
One path racer ( a Pashley Gentleman copy )
A Moulton F Frame ,Series 1 but with cracked rear forks
    16" trek 90s mountain bike
    EG Bates tourer

    Saddles x 4

    Chain sets (X 3? )
    Brakes - Cantilever (X 2 ) , I pair bolt on Campag calipers, Athena's I think .
and stuff that I' ve not yet found.
    Brake levers - hooded ( x ?)
    Front and rear derallieurs (x ? )

I will attempt a catalogue. There will also be cakes, tea, and coffee available. The coffee will not be instant. Prices, will be forum prices or reasonable jumble ones

So how is this going to work ?
I suggest that if you are interested that you pm me. I will respond with a proper invite and the address. Nearer the day I ll send you the catalogue.

For guests, I ask that you are polite and respectful, but I know that you will be .

A couple of you have asked if they can also have a stall. I may have space for 2 -3 others, but only if its a blanket on the ground. PM me to discuss this . I will give preference to locals .

    Parking or getting here
Public Transport is pretty good, either get a tube to Walthamstow or Leytonstone and the get a bus or walk to Whipps Cross.

    **Bike parking.
**You can bring your pride and joy into the house , but please mind the paint work.

**What's going to happen to the money made from the Jumble **
I ve said earlier I ll make a donation to a forum charity , do we have one?
I ll also make a donation to the forum server fund.

    Finally
PM me to express an interest.

  • Upate - 24th April

The invitations to the Jumble have now gone out to any one who PM ed me

In any one else is interested , then you are still more than welcome to PM me for an invite

A catalogue should be available next week.

  • wow am struck dumb by your list of magnificent bits

  • it's gonna be a big catalogue.

  • People

I ' ve now created and album in Photos and put some of pictures there. Its called Jumble .

Some more pictures of what's on sale will be going up over the next few days .

A catalogue of sorts will be done over the weekend which I will then PM to invitees

  • First of all, thank you to every one who has asked for an invite to my “private jumble . You should by now have recived a PM with the whereabouts and time of the Jumble. PM me if I have still not replied to you

The response has been great so far , and I think our house can handle a few more customers, so PM if any more of you want to come.

Walthamstow and East London people who just want to eat cake, meet other cyclists and discuss the virtues of radial spoking are especially welcome.

Cakes- I can promise you fudge brownies, Bara brith, carrot cake , and a walnut cake. Cakes will also be sold to take home. The cakes will be made using top notch ingredients following the recipes of La Nigella and Mary Berry.

    Other sellers
A couple of you have PM ed me asking if they can sell stuff as well. I am happy to allow this provided it’s a few bits and pieces only . If this jumble works out, then I d be glad to discuss holding another one later in the year.

    The Catalogue.

  • As I speak the cakes are being baked and I shall soon return to a house full of the aroma of freshly made choclate brownies.

I look forward to meeting every one who is coming and to the confusing moment when we have to match avatars and forum names to reality; I am not really called Peter Carter , I don't look like David Niven and my wife is from Ilford not Boston Mass.

See you at 10 ish, preferably after 10 not before.

  • Hi Peter - member *Coppi That *mentioned your mini-jumble to me on the phone yesterday. I wonder if i might come along with him as i live local to both you guys. I would PM but i'm still new to the site. Thanks for your forebearance, Richard

  • I'm not able to make it this weekend but it sounds like fun, so if it happens again, let me know. I'm Local!

Many thanks to you and your wife for the hospitaility, food and bike bits. Well worth the trip across the capital. The brownies went down a storm. The levers i bought look fab on the bike. Wondering whether the green frame that everyone was admiring is still available - I'm sorely tempted!

    Hugh

  • that was so much fun, that must have been the most chilled out cycle jumble in the history of cycle jumbles. thank you so much for your time, goodies and looking after us. i really should have joined in on the brownie extravaganza.

  • Thanks every one for coming.

Yes Hugh , the Green Orbit is still available, if that's the one you mean ? If its the Robinson lightweight, then that's gone.

Campag brakes were snaffled by my girlfriend almost as soon as I got back for her bike....oh well!

And I still have cake left!

    Cheers,
    Joe.

  • Thanks

Unfortunately, we have now run out of Brownies . See you monday!
