For Sale: Custom made track hub axle - 130mm spacing?

Posted on
  • I had this turned by a local engineering company while I was having some other work done recently. Fits Zenith/system EX etc... type hubs and allows you to run them easily at 130mm (overall length is 175mm). Standard threading so it'll take all the normal hardware/nuts. The centre section is standard, just has longer threads on both sides.

  • huh, most zenith rears have heaps of axle space for extra spacers

  • Mine weren't long enough! :(

Thick ally dropouts to blame I think....

  • ah

  • Hi Jammy,

do you still have any of these? I'm after one.

    Cheers,
    Boris

  • me too. still available?

  • Awesome! These still available?

  • Ooh - didn't see this get re-bumped. Drop me a PM if you want it someone...

I've only got the one though.

  • Hi Jammy,

I can't send you a personal message because I am too new. I guess I'll lose out to a regular - which is fair enough.

But if there are a few of us who need these - do you have details for the company that made them? Do they still have the specs? I thought we might be able to club together and get some more made.

    Thanks,
    Boris.

  • It was a tiny local engineering firm in my village. If there's a few folk interested I could pop down and ask them for a price, no probs

  • Great! Thanks Jammy.

It appears that there are at least three of us - yebo, fahrenheit - can you confirm?

    Boris.

  • i know another guy who would want one too

  • Fahrenheit is having the one I've got, as he was first in the queue. I'll make a call this afternoon and get a price for 5. Should be able to shift them.

  • nice jammy, thanks

  • Thanks Jammy,

    Boris.

  • Hey there, Tom just linked me this. I'm building a 130 frame and have systemex hubs. I'd buy one from you too rather than bend me frame.

  • Thought I'd report back to y'all.

I received Jammy's axle the other day and installed it yesterday, following [ame="http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=347132"]this[/ame] guide. It worked a treat. The axle is a perfect length and of great quality, looks like it was CNC'ed. It would be great if you could get another batch of these made by the same guys. Looks like they know what they're doing. Otherwise, if that falls through, I can actually probably get a guy from work to make some.

    Thanks, jammy!

  • No word from Jammy - I still need one of these. Anyone else?

If there are a few of us maybe we could try and get some made.

To be honest, I'd have no idea where to get this done, or how to go about it - whether they would need a proper spec, or whether I could just take in the original and ask for a longer version. But I'm willing to give it a go.

  • Shit guys! I'm sorry - I totally forgot to call up.
    I'll sort it shortly

  • Thanks very much Jammy - don't apologise, you're helping us all out!

  • Just spoke to the company I used, they're too busy at the moment to take on a little job like this.
I've got one more bloke to ask, and I'll do that tonight.

  • Too busy! With LDV tinkering on the brink of survival, you'd have thought that an engineering company would jump at a luctrative contract like this.

  • Don't know if anyone has had any luck with these? I was going to ask around to see if I could get one made, but noticed that Harris Cyclery in the US sell them:

Has anyone tried one? Min. order shipping to the UK is $100, but I am sure I can find some other stuff I want.

  • I wouldn't mind one.

  • Anyone have one of these? need one for my system ex hub which is on my road conversion.

edit: they sell them here http://harriscyclery.net/itemdetails.cfm?ID=2496

but $100 minimum order, anyone else want some?
