Surely ,if you removed a tooth from the rear cog, and then filled in the hole in the chain with which it once mated with. All would be well.
Alternativly if you would like to gear down, simply grind out a section of your rear rim and rewield. The reduced wheel diameter would give you an effective lower gear.
Personally I can never be bothered with all this cuting and wielding, so I just let the air out of my rear tyre to gain the same effect.
