really sorry guys, messed up my terminology, by calipers i meant the levers... :S if you still want dibs on the levers just PM me...
the actual calipers are shimano 105s and come with the frame.
pick up in soho or hackney.

Lovely frame (650 front I assume) - I have something very similar (see attached).
I'd advise you to put a rear wheel in and check the clearances. For training purposes I run a 700 x 20 tyre on mine as a 700 x 23 rubbed on the seat tube; seeing the small mark on the back of your tube I'm guessing this is similar. Absolutely no worries if you are using this for testing; however for riding the streets of London it's a little rigid.

V. Nice frame! Got a Similar TT rig in 753 thats getting a refurb atm. Lovely neat fillet brazing on the top. Cant say im a fan of the carbon forks though. The steel profile ones usually found on the Argos kits are far nicer.
Is that also the original owner name on the 5th photo down? Can make out a 'Jackson' there..
Anyhow, whats the rear spacing and is it made for a 650 front? I have an ENO hub that may be perfect for this.

Rear spacing on mine is 130 - I imagine his would be the same. These were the top tt rigs of their day (early 90s).

Indeed - my bike above used to be one of his!
Word of warning to peeps - the Argos frames slow down over time......

Lol - think my wife's words when Parcelforce turned up were something along the lines of:
It's pink and it's from Argos - have you totally lost your marbles!

nice one willo!
this one actually takes 700c on both front and back, unlike some other argos TT frames. from the original ebay ad:
"Hand built fillet brazed Argos frame constructed from Reynolds 753 tubing with EDGE carbon aero forks. Dimensions: seat tube centre to centre = 49.5cm, seat tube centre to top = 55cm, top tube length centre to centre 54.5cm. in pearlescent white. Fitted with Stronglight headset, Shimano 105 brake calipers and comes with new cut to size cable set. The frame takes 700c wheels front and rear (unlike some Argos frames with shorter forks for 650c). The frame and forks with the headset fitted weighs just under 5lbs and the bike rides very fast when built up. This frame cost over £850 new and is in very good condition with a few stone chips and scratches. Nothing that will slow it down though. Unsure who Argos are? check the link: http://www.argoscycles.com/"
and afaik reynolds 753 was an improved version of 531 that was thinner and lighter, only selected frame builders could use it and had to be approved by reynolds because of the way the tubes were welded together, only the more experienced builders could do it. They are quit rare nowadays and you have to see it to appreciate how light and strong it looks / feels.
@ ent, i measured the rear spacing and it is indeed 130mm (and takes 700c on the front). the faint name on the top tube is indeed the original owners name.
here are pics the original owner sent me of the bike built up. the wheels he put on there were temporary, one of the reasons he was selling was because he couldn't afford to shell out on proper disc wheels.
@ willo, this IS an older frame but I'm sure it still has a lot of life left in it and would really do with having a good owner and a good home. its a trade off between age and overall quality innitplus! its a pretty good deal, you get a carbon fork (like it or not haha) thats normally 100£+ new, 105 calipers which are 60£+ new, and a good stronglight headset which also comes in around 50£+ new... and then theres of course the frame...
thanks for looking guys + girls.

I agree - I think it's a steal.
There is no need to put a disc on it. You just need to be aware that your choice of tyre is limited. For time trialling, 19mm or 20mm tyres are preferred, and these frames were built with this size in mind.
All you need is a 700 x 20 tyre (eg one of these http://www.wiggle.co.uk/p/cycle/7/Continental_Grand_Prix_4000_Tyre/5360019477/).

hmm now the previous owner didn't need a low profile, he's negated the shallow height of the frame and its very aero position, with a high rising stem and tri-bars flapping in the wind- I'm guessing he a had a gut hanging problem/paunch, and he'd say it was his wind bag/diaphragm breathing..........

And the fact that the bike was far too small for him.
The 130 rules me out. Needed a 126.

just bumping before I stick her on the ebays. If you're interested I would be willing to bump her down to 230£. She needs a good home, and a caring family.
Hi guys,
Just a week ago I bought a beautiful pearlescent white argos frame from a very friendly and reluctant seller on ebay. I was going to build it up as a nice geared trials bike but after speaking to the banker I now realize this would be a really long way off and I won't prioritize it right now. All a bit silly really, because this is the reason the first gent was selling it in the first place. Dreams and impulse, I'm sure quite a few of you understand.
Its a reynolds 753 micro TT frame, very rare tubing and when you stare down the seat tube you can see how paper thin the steel really is. The paintjob is great (typical argos quality) You can see from the pictures how the paintjob goes purple in the light. It has been used, and some of the paint is chipped from dings, rocks etc. Otherwise its in good shape.
its a 49cm TT, so would suit someone who normally rides 52-54cm.
It also comes with a stronglight headset, shimano 105 brakes, EDGE carbon fibre forks and brake cables. These items alone new cost more than what I bought the frame for on ebay!
**I payed the BIN 250£, I would be happy if I could get 200£.
**
Pick up in Hackney E8 or Soho, or I can post it to you if you wish.
also, i have a pair of 28mm tyres taken off my charge plug, used 6 months - free dibbed but will update if available
and
some pretty beat up risers that could be chopped for a polo bike - free dibbed but will update if available
and
a pair of brake levers that are also not pretty but work fine - free. dibbed but will update if available
PM me for my phone number if you're interested! thanks for reading my essay!
