i should be able to make the ugly twat ride now, so count me in :)
been thinking about fund raising for it, i reckon we've inadvertently drawn alot of attention to bike polo from our newmarket road games. it might be worth tapping up the councillors/yoof centre manager/locals to see if we can do some sort of an 'open day' in the court, where we invite parents, teenagers, kids etc along to see the game, have a try out themselves, and buy burgers and coke from our own bbq and raffle stuff or somethingk?
we could print small A5 black and white flyers laminated and do a post run around cambridge, 15 of us spend an hour posting stuff thats alot of town covered.
we could raffle:
*custom malllets
*spoke cards
*balls
*bike parts
*bikes?
*training sessions with Lee to learn tricks :p
*favours or promises (for example, you win the chance to go out for dinner with Harvey, i'd pay good money for that opportunity!) or more in tune with the event, the promise to service your bike for free.
plus we could do the 'bike through a hoop' challenge, where you take two clapped out bikes and two teams of people, and the quickest to get the complete knackered bike through a small hoop wins a prize. bit like shelford feast piano through a window type thing? that would cost nothing to organise and would create interest, and be bloody hilarious fun too, sledgehammers and mallets ahoy.
this will take organising though, and will probably have to be done on a saturday, and before june, oh dear!!
