  • And you Eddie seem to be missing the point that not everybody cares as much about the way a bike looks as a whole.
People do sometimes build bikes by choosing each component based on seperate criteria...be it aerodynamics, strength, weight, and yes...even looks.
It's completely acceptable to fall in love with a japanese track frame...a vintage campag crank...a pair of modern carbon rims...a chub rear hub...phil wood front hub...chris king headset...plastic saddle...thick puncture proof tyres...and then build that into a complete bike.
Sure, it may not look how the japanese frame builder envisaged it....or Tulio Campagnolo saw his cranks used...but does that make it wrong?
I've always built my bikes based on what I personally want them to be like.
I've mixed up every component going at some point...whether it was 'intented' to go with the rest of the parts or not....and my favourite bikes have always had choices that other people disliked...but i've always been happy with the end result.

To say you can only use parts that are 'supposed' to go together is ridiculous.
What marks us out as individuals is our ability and desire to express ourselves in whichever way we choose...regardless of what others think.

So feel free to laugh at my bike for whatever reason....but don't bother trying to tell me that it's 'wrong' for any reason...because it's MINE....not yours!

Now go ahead and take a swing if you like...xxx
The challenge is to be yourself in a world that is trying to make you like everyone else.
