As a Welshman you should deffo get some NOS Made in Wales Goldtecs...

I wouldn't say phil if it's likely to get nicked again!
phil or dia compe gran compe.
or on-one or SJS
DA/Campag if you are racing.
all the in-betweeny stuff is just in betweeny though goldtecs can last a long time if you don't get jiggy with them too often.

Miche offer good longevity at an affordable price - you can pick up a pair for £45 at the moment.

I've said this before and I'll say it again, I prefer Goldtecs to Phils... Miche Primatos also roll really nicely for the money, tho' the lockrings are shit and the axles/nuts will rust to buggery if you don't spray them with GT85 every now and then...

Gran Compe or Goldtec IMO

obivously the main thing im after is something that'll roll nicest for the longest possible time - i was leaning towards goldtecs to begin with but you cant help being seduced by phil/level for an extra 50 quid (although obviously its a lot if there not that much improvement)
after all, i havent spent a decent amount of money on my bikes in a little while and my bank account will be getting nice and itchy on the 27th april...
just out of interest teenslain, anything in particular about the goldtec vs phil thing? or just the cash diff?
Since my back wheel got nicked a few weeks ago and my student loan is due in a couple of weeks, its time for me to get a new wheel. Ive had a look at the list of hubs and all that shizzle, so as i see it:
goldtec - general all rounder - not too expensive and will take abuse
level - great hubs, but proprietary cogs
phil - shiny...
dura ace and record - need more maintenance because theyre not sealed?
probably looking mainly between phil/level/goldtec but just wondering if anyone has a particularly strong opinion on one over the other (or obviously knows of any ridiculous bargains to be had)
