YOB 'KNEW NOTHING' OF ATTACK
A DRUNKEN yob who beat up his pregnant girlfriend downed 12,000 cans of Stella Artois in an amazing 16-month binge.
Michael Ibbotson told police he drank 20 to 30 cans of the extra-strong lager a day.
And a court heard he could "remember nothing" of attacking mum-of-two Hayley Plant because of the amount he had drunk.
After a heavy drinking session he repeatedly punched her in the head and body, kicked her in the stomach, headbutted her, threw a bucket at her and threatened to cut off her fingers.
She fled to her parents' home with her children - and enraged Ibbotson went on a wrecking spree, smashing furniture and fittings, Sheffield crown court heard. Judge Simon Lawler QC said being drunk was "certainly no excuse for what took place".
He jailed jobless Ibbotson, from Rotherham, South Yorkshire, for 18 months for causing her actual bodily harm.
