I'm down with the neo samurai, one of the most exciting fighters ever.
One of my all time favourite fights is Gomi v Diaz from Pride:

hi,
i will be working in east london from early june. i am looking for a MMA club. i googled it and the diesel gym looks promising, any one got any thoughts?

And can anyone recommend good shops in London for gloves and various protective gear?
I've used some online shops for the stuff I've gotten so far, but would like to try before I buy, especially for pricey gloves for example. -

hi,
i will be working in east london from early june. i am looking for a MMA club. i googled it and the diesel gym looks promising, any one got any thoughts?
I used to train at a small club in South Wimbledon called Sportcombat. MMA, Muay Thai, top notch BJJ class on a sunday, best bunch of guys ever. I miss them like fucking crazy. Also did muay thai upstairs at the Budokwai over in Chelsea, good instructor and very roomy. BJJ class there was epic, I pretty much spent two hours being raped on a weekly basis.
I've heard good things about the Diesel Gym athough never made it over there, Muay Thai looks like a good bet for there.
You've got the Wimbledon Gracie, and the Hammersmith Gracie too. With Gi, No Gi, Muay Thai, greco, boxing, the works pretty much. Got a couple of buddies training at those camps at the momet and they've come on leaps and bounds.
Shootfighters at Latimer Road, never been but I know a bunch of animals who do go there.. it's intensive to say the least, they don't mess about.
Elite over in Elephant and Castle as well, good club, good level of training, defo worth a look.
And can anyone recommend good shops in London for gloves and various protective gear?
I've used some online shops for the stuff I've gotten so far, but would like to try before I buy, especially for pricey gloves for example.I pretty much only shop at www.made4fighters.co.uk good range, cheaper than the larger stores like MMA Universe, awesome conditioning section for eveything you need too; Iron Woody bands are your best friend. I don't think anywhere will do try before you buy, best bet is to stick to real leather for your gloves. Good set of bullhide Twins for a budget set of boxing/sparring gloves, Cleto Reyes if you've got the coin and want the best. As for MMA gloves, Rogue, Hayabusa, anything like that will do. Just stick to leather at all times. Muay Thai shins, check ebay, forget oaying anything daft like £50 for them, get onto a thai seller and spend a tenner. Mine are two years old and are still kicking arse.

UFC party at mine tomorrow night if anyone is keen? 2.30am start, bring some lo-carb brewskis and veg nibbles and let's do this. So far it's me, a japanese cyber goth chick and 2 village chav girls.
Machida via KO in the 2nd round; but we all know the undercard is where it's at. Fingers crossed for the Pat Berry fight to get broadcast!

Thinking of getting a pair of [ame="http://www.amazon.co.uk/gel-hand-wraps/s/qid=1244710638/ref=sr_nr_seeall_1?ie=UTF8&rs=&keywords=gel%20hand%20wraps&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Agel%20hand%20wraps%2Ci%3Asports"]these things[/ame].
Any opinions on brands ? What I like about these things is that the wraps can be arranged to go some way down the forearm so you are prepared for blocks. As I write this my forearms look (and feel) pretty battered - couldn't find my gear and went at it au naturel. Ouch.

Yo, I can't see any product, just a link to Amazon and no page thereafter..
In an awesome turn of events I just found a new club in Cambridge with a full size cage, free weights area, every type of bag you could ever want, olympicrings, dip and chin bars everywhere, even a beer keg.. Cannot believe my luck.

Sorry, I got the link working, I'm an idiot.
I use gel type wraps as well as Mexican style wraps. The gel ones are awesome as I've had various broken knuckles/fingers over the year as well as ligament damage and they add an extra buffer whilst not taking any feel out of your hands.
My only gripe is that with a 4oz glove it can get to be a pretty tight fit with them on so you may want to stick to the regular wraps;obviously if you're using sparring/bag/16oz gloves then use the gel wraps.
I got a pair for 8 quid and only one of the finger loops has torn but they're fine if you wrap your fingers and keep the main bulk of it all in place.

Hows the training going fella? I don't know exactly what you've been training for - but I've been loving your rocky style updates on facebook, the snorkel in particular

Training in my garage (aka The Thunderdome) is going well. I've got a massive fitness test / event coming up so I'm training for that at the moment. Was going to enter the Nettle Warrior this summer but then I realised that it's for pussies and that I belong in the -5C hell that is January Tough Guy, but then this other thing came up in te meantime.
Pretty much living in my sweatsuit in an attempt to cut as much weight / acclimatise to the summer heat as possible. Clefty, you love the updates haha ross enamait has a posse!

that sweatsuit cracks me up man, seriously I look forward to more updates - keep em coming!
Might send the link to my bro, who is in 42 commando and training to be a PT instructor at the moment or something like that. He's doing a coast to coast walk with his mates for his stag do, 31 miles a day - crazy fucker. -

Btw, sent those gel padded gloves back again. Not really what I needed.
For anyone on here who practises/appreciates Mixed Martial Arts.
I'll start it off with this: YouTube - Tito Ortiz Music Video!
Still makes me laugh.
