Apparently the band were apart for a couple of months before their big break and got back together to find that the two with beards had grown the same thing completely independently of one another.. The story goes that it wasn't planned at all..

Gillette apparently offered them a million dollars a piece to shave their beards off, but they declined. Awesome band.
