Haha, that sounds about right. It was in pretty poor condition when I first got it but I have slowly renovated everything bit by bit. Have faith in your project! Yeah, mine is SS so was simply a case of removing the original 5-speed freehub with a special splined tool that my local bike shop had and then screwing on a new freewheel. If you want to go fixed though you can either make a 'suicide hub' by using loctite to seal up the thread once you have threaded on your sprocket or you will need to buy a specific track hub / rear wheel. Really depends what your budget is and how brave you are feeling! If you are interested then I have a 18t sprocket and some loctite?
