I use a frog on my front fork and seat post (both on blink) and then a toad up front and a 3 LED cateye clipped on my belt. Looking like a mobile disco FTW.
replace the back one with a brighter one, rear frog are too dim for vehicle drivers to see you.

I used to have one of them. It broke (after about 10 years).
Mine broke, I soldered it back together. The case is held together with some heavy duty waterproof tape.
I been thinking of designing and making my own lights, something really fecking simple and indestructible. Got plenty of random bits of kit in the garage.

The Cateye is a rear one on the back of my belt. The frog just flashes underneath on the seatpost. Two lights on each end at different heights I figure makes for good visibility.
Even though the frogs supposedly have a decent battery life I've found mine dim quite quickly. I cycled with a friend who had just bought some new ones and I couldn't even believe they were the same lights because of how much brighter his were than mine.

Hi, just picked up a couple of Gekkos from Rutland Cycles, £10 each which seems much cheaper than any where else i've seen. Not spam, just thought I'd let people know. Their ebay shop is cheaper than their online shop too.

Anyone know if Gekkos for the front are availble yet, google only yielded ebay Gekkos for £25 inc shipping!
Duh! I meant Skinks, jesus...

knog frog slog, *pfff creapy reptiles from muddy grounds these are. get a hope vision 1 to be treated with respect (trucks give me space/see me, i had even cars backed up in a dark alleyway for me). top build quality, sealed bla bla bla and the brightest you'll bla bla in under 75quid range.
at the back, thinking of that one watt thingy that i had the pleasure to try lately, i sport a bright and nice slim cateye 5led strip, though i stickered it up at the sides and over the button for water protection, still its some bright 10quid slick stick ;) no? -

Just thought I would add this thread again, Rutland ran out of gekkos for the front so upgraded me to a Toad for free. The rear light is going fine. The toad has already packed up though. I've changed the batteries, no luck and I haven't even got it wet. Sending back to Rutland so will let you know how it goes.

+1
Clips onto bag loop/pocket etc too!
another +1 for the smart superflash from me too! the only light that makes london taxis give you space...
I 'USE' an old Exposure Joystick on the front. bought it over 2 years ago for night mtb'ing, have commuted on it for the last 3 winters, bombproof and seriously bright, just on dim setting. worth getting s/h, cos the aftersales is brill!
(PS I'm not related to any USE types) -

+1 for the Niterider Cherry Bomb. Brighter than a Havard law Grad with a PHd in Neuropsychology who isn't feeling challenged at the moment.
Would also agree that the sun seems dim by comparison.
Also has the advantage of a sensible standard clip attachment and works as a reflector when not switched on, apparently.

If heading out on a wet night just wrap your rear light/seat post in a layer of cling-film.

Got two frogs for the front and a gekko for the rear. See how they go. Fail probably from what I've read.

The guys at Rutland cycles have just sent me back a toad. However this one isn't working either. I have a feeling they sent me back my original one by mistake. Getting a bit bored of it now. Rear light working fine, front is still dead.

If Knog read this surely they will feel like plonkers. Cling film is the answer then. Knog, please supply cling film with your lights in the future.

Yesterday i bought a knog skink rear light, used it last night in the rain and within an hour it was busted, wouldnt switch off and then kept randomly changing settings...
took it back to condor just now and got a cateye rear light, much better and far more reliable,
Think twice before you buy some, if you reckon you can keep it dry then fine but otherwise avoid them, which is difficult i know because the look and concept is great, just a shame they are so poorly made.

My rear bullfrog has been ridden in torrential rain and loads of shitty conditions, I even cracked the plastic casing underneath when I trod on it once and it still works fine lol?!
My front light/lights have never missed a beat either, maybe there quality control is just not that great and a few faulty ones are slipping through the net? -
• #71
yep - i've had mine for donkeys and it still good

Has anyone ever had issues with a Knog NERD in the wet? Just ordered one and hoping it will be waterproof really!

I have had the same problem with the skink i gought a while ago, took it apart and let it dry and it was fine. I dont think its going to be a good light for wet conditions.

Not sure, but I don't think you need extreme waterproofing for something handlebar mounted, its not gonna get as much water flung up at it as say a rear light in heavy rain?

I have these. I borrowed a knog light off my friend once and was amazed at how shite they were given there price. However the trek light are cheap, Light weight, economic on batteries, Very bright given there size and just as small as the knog. Its a win win situation, Granted the treks don't look like a dead insect clinging to your handle bars but I can live without that.
bought a beetle in white today so will have to see how it goes
