  • I bought one from HubJub (paid £15 plus had it posted to Norway), then spotted something pretty darn similar in a local Clas Ohlsen (Its a swedish hardware store chain, which is very popular here in Norway). I think there is one in London. £9.99

any one wanna go to croydon??
well not actually want but live near?

  • just because Teresa there was so helpful, i'm gonna plug webbline.co.uk again as the place to get this thing.

although yeah £10 at clas ohlson is a lot cheaper.

Must admitt I was a bit peeved having bought it from a specalist UK website, paying postage to Norway (and of course waiting for it). Then spotting it in the scandinavian equivalent of Robert Dyers.

(not that I dont love Robert Dyers, cuz I do)

  • ok guys, i'm thinking of making a trip to croydon one day next week. i'll give them a call the day before i go to reserve the chain tools so... who wants one?

  • i bet loads of people would be interested at £10 each. good tool and good call.

  • rocksteady I'm in on that like white on rice, put me down for one...

  • Marlon, yes please, Desi (the cunt*) broke mine at HH... Will it do 3/32" and 1/8" tho'?

    • jokes!
  • fnckme backwards, corny IS actually buying a tool

headline news, front page stuff, deserves it's own thread that :)

  • Icetools do a pretty good one for about a tenner. Bought one from e*ans

  • rocksteady I'm in on that like white on rice, put me down for one...

    racist.

  • this does 1/" and 3/32". it works really well and is solid. the twisty knob bit holds the chain in place so there's no oily faff.

  • I could do with a decent chain tool after stripping all the thread off both of mine. Useful and timely thread

  • my decathlon chain tool rules.
and it says decathlon on it.

  • The park tools CT-7 one is better as it is made out of a tougher steel therefore more resistant to twisting forces, i've had mine for 7 years and its fantastic.

  • I've seen chain tools constructed of a similar looking metal to the one pictured above snap or bend in my hands when I used to work as a mechanic.

  • these were designed for motorbike chains

  • @CJ- but you are an exception, you break everything!

  • @CJ- but you are an exception, you break everything!

Haha except this chaintool! because it is that damn good!

  • these were designed for motorbike chains

Try using them on a few half link chains and see how long they last, those things are notorious for breaking chain tools, I used to work on a lot of bmxes back in the day which was probably why I came across a lot of shadow half link chains, I think my park tool is on its third pin in the time that i've had it, which is pretty good considering the amount of use its had.

  • ok, i have my tool in my hand right now and i very much doubt you would ever break it. if you were to, i'd suspect you were doing it wrong.

  • ok, i have my tool in my hand right now

please keep your private goings on, private.

  • The above chain tool is nice but the teeth which hold the chain in place can be bent so needs to be used properly if you want it to last. Definitely more for 1/8 rather than 3/32

Like I said, the park tools one is much tougher.
