  • And I mean properly review stuff... get gear, take it home, try it out... consider it thoroughly, write it up in legible English, rate it on appropriate things, etc.

Basically... trusted reviews of bike bits and services with an in-depth report.

If you're interested... let me know... what you'll get from this will vary, some suppliers might let you keep stuff, others might not... I guess it depends on value (I can see suppliers letting you keep a pair of cheaper shoes, but perhaps not a £2k OTP bit of bike porn).

The idea is to go further than the sketchy debates about stuff and actually field test stuff.

We're not a magazine... we don't have advertising space that we have to sell... good, honest field tests are worth a lot and I'm quite happy if we slag stuff off if something is dire.

I haven't worked out how it will all work, but hell... it'll be fun and a good blag for those involved and it will give us the opportunity to really highlight the good stuff, the bad stuff and what's out there. I really like the idea of reviewing lots of similar items at a time so that we can produce good side by side comparisons... but I guess we'd need to put some real effort into making synchronised field tests really work.
