Ok so here goes:
A couple of weeks ago, at about 10.10pm outside angel tube station i saw a guy fiddling with a bike chain attached to a brompton bike which was folded (surely the point of a brompton is that you take it with you instead of locking it up!!!!).
At first as i approached i was already suspicious because as you might have guessed this guy was in trackies with a hood on etc. He certainly was'nt your typical brompton rider!
The next thing i knew the chain had been broken and was lying on the ground and he ran off with the bike (still folded) under his left arm,
That evening i was returning from virgin active(gym) so i was pretty pumped up!
The second he ran off i knew he'd nicked it so i chased him for approx 100mt, as i was catching up, you could say i acted impulsively, i litterly fly-kicked him in the side in what was like a dangerously high football tackle. The guy fell (so did i, because i had just launched myself at him) and he dropped the bike, i grabbed the bike and this guy ran off... never got to really see his face because it was dark and he was wearing a hood etc.
The adreneline still pumping i suddenly realised the situation i was in, i had a titanium custom brompton with a brooks saddle on it (worth approx £1400) in my hands but it was'nt mine....
I began walking back to angel station wandering what the hell to do, (typically no one from the public had got involved) then all of a sudden the owner came running at me, she was women aged approx 25-30, she had just exited the station as the bike had been taken from the rack, and saw me running off after this guy... apparently she had shouted but i was listening to my ipod and had'nt heard or noticed her, she was pretty hysterical,shocked, crying etc. After handing the bike over (and apologising for the scratches to her new frame :) i said i had to go, she was incredibly greatful and took my details, a couple of days later she sent me £50 via paypal! all in all a good nights work!
If i ever am in the same situation again i will try and catch the thief and get him locked up!
