Gimme a clip-on brake!

Posted on
  • next week, i'm dragging my bike to berlin for the summer. the berlin cops are cracking down on brakeless riders and seeing as i have no intension of drilling my fork, i want to pick up a clip-on brake this weekend. anyone got a spare/know where i can buy one today?

  • i know we had some in TFG/shop 14 but they aint cheap

  • what are we talking, price-wise?

  • god. that sucks. cheers, guys...

  • wow beside the price~ what a great invention~

  • could bodge a rear brake with two metal plates

  • could bodge a rear brake with two metal plates

My old man used to do that with his Ricardo Track frame for hill climbs etc - no holes anywhere and too tight to the tyres. 5mm Aluminium plates FTW as they are soft enough not to mash your seat stays. not sure how tight your forks are but maybe it's possible?

  • Hubyjubby's got them @ 50GN, just not for today, mind.

  • i guess that's the last thing you want to spend £63 on... archaic!

  • Manufact'd rear brakes also exist for bodging dodgers with $$$$ and the bother.....

  • I think Gizmond has or had one- he might lend it to you Teddy?

  • i went to fourteen and bought a diacomp front one for my bike. it'll look shit but at least my bike won't get confiscated and crushed. i also got both a front and rear clip on (amazing!) set for a mate in berlin. £60-ish each...

  • theres a rear on ebay for 30.

    too late eh?
    ahh well.

  • cheers, guys. annoyingly, i probably have one of the only bikes in the world that can't take a rear clip-on brake...

but hopefully i'll be alright with the front brake. wish me luck.
