  • Head on over to the Ronde, guys ... nothing to see here ...

  • I think Kimi is part tabby. Hates the wet. He is a charachter though. Straight into his shorts in the garage, leaving the other drivers soaking wet.
I don't blame him. Why sit in the rain for no points anyway?

Disappointing race. They'll very likely change the start-time for next year.

  • Bella - I imagine you pacing around with a ferrari track suit and stop watch telling Donut (who is still asleep) that its 'on' in four hours...best of British luck to you old thing

Chance would be a fine thing mate, I was still asleep tho and totally missed the race! :(

  • interesting race, loved the interview on the BBC with the ferrari comms guy, something like:

Q *Do you think Kimi is motivated to finish the race?
*A Yes, he is very motivated

... minutes after a shot of him chilling with an ice lolly in his shorts, the guy is a hero.

  • loved the post-race interview with hamilton where he was asked how he felt about finishing 7th,

    "They said i was 5th!"

and you could just see him trying not to drop a naughty word on live TV.

  • ... wonder if they will take this dispute about position to the stewards ;)

  • If it ain't rules it's rain.

  • love it kimi blew it with a silly gamble and is kicing back with a coke and i ic cream asap, clearly not overly concerned!!

Great news for jense, braw gp, 2 races 2 wins and this one on tyres they never used before in conditions they've never tested in, dream!!

  • 1.5 wins =P

But congratulations is definitely in order for him, Barrichello and Brawn!

  • The plot thickens....McLaren have fired sporting director Dave Ryan over the "lying" scandal...for those who dont know, Ryan was part of the 'lie-gate' where he had instructed Hamilton to tell the race stewards the team did not tell him to let Trulli pass.

He gave around 35 yrs to F1

A few people have said that he's just been used as a scapegoat, however apparently karma has just caught up with him.

  • who knows, I read he is a man of high integrity so I dont know, politics? its a dirty industry like any other. Fact.

  • My feckin Brawn GP t-shirt still hasn't come through yet. Somewhat angry.

@EPIFANIA. I BOOKED HOTELS LAST NIGHT FOR MONACO. WE'RE STAYING IN NICE THO. Arrggghhhh. Can't wait! Going Wednesday late, so getting all 4 days! ;)

  • Oh wow an F1 thread. Okay.

I'm a massive F1 fan, and have been a McLaren supporter since I was able to walk, but I have to say that without Ron Dennis, the team is going to fall apart. I'm sick to death of all the politics this season, already!

I may have to send my '09 McLaren shirt back, and buy a Brawn GP one....

  • Ron Dennis is a scum bag.

  • that might be your opinion. I happen to think he's handled some of the most recent 'problems' at McLaren very well, and the team will suffer without his diplomatic wise.

  • hm. I've heard some pretty bad stories about him from McLaren employees, dont like the sound of him one bit.

  • I'm really p*ssed at Mcl and LH for this whole debacle, but glad I get to watch it.

What you say about Ron is interesting. He was able to hold the team together only because of his negotiating skills, his presence and his tight conections within the F1 & specifically FIA circuits. Whitmarsh is going to be feeling the heavy back of someones hand for this episode and I fully believe that Ryan was purely a scapegoat. I'll bet a lot of money that the call on what they said came from above Ryans head, and I'd say it was Whitmarsh.

It's standard McL tactics. Do what we can, if we do badly we cheat the system/bend it as far as we can, and convince ourselves (and therefore everybody around us) that we were in the right all the time. I think the teams success and self-dillusions of power have completely clouded there perception of reality. Especially with the drivers champ. win having alluded them for 9 years.

The team, if a human being, would be diagnosed as critically insane, deemed a danger to society and immedeately sectioned in my opinion.

I really hope the FIA come down on then on the 29th. I think it is extremely cheecky that McL and LH are going to be contesting the 7th place position from Sepang after everyting that happened.

OH, BTW. Eddie Jordan. Who here thinks he SHOULD be presenting at all? I'm certainly not convinced, and did you see his interview with Ecclestone? Wow, seriously shocking.

  • PigFarmer, which interview? You got a link?

Saw that interview at the weekend.... awful.

  • Ha. It made my skin crawl even more the second time watching it!

I love the bit where Jordan asks; 'do you think this (the lie-gate episode) will have some lasting damage, or do you think it will be gone in a week?'

Bernie;'Well you know, I think with the Mclaren incident [hand gesture] before it gets forgotten doesn't it'

    Jordan; 'Er. yes...'

  • Ron Dennis is a scum bag.

Ron Dennis is a results man. This is clear, and it appears that he also nurtures a grudge rather well.....there is rumour that the Nazi-Sexgate tip-off may have been connected to him.

People like him, if reports about his character are true, get results under enormous pressure, but also become bullies in a hot-house environment.

Anyone who works in a nice cuddly work environment, would despise him, and managers like him. I understand the animosity towards him, but in such an environment, its the harsh and cold, that are successful. F1 has no time for niceties, and those teams that are managed by fluffy managers, will never see the podium.

Its the way of the world.

Also, I wouldn't be surprised that Ryan is re-employed by McL, in some "other" capacity. He made a bad call, and by that brought the name of McL into (further) disrepute. This alone is a dismissable offence. Making their top driver look like a lying toe-rag, is worse actually.

Whitmarsh may well jump.......before the push. We'll see. I like McL, and I hope they turn this all around. Anyway, we still have Jenson to carry the flag, so nothing lost from that angle.
