  • Anyone know much about these chainsets? Single ring, external BB, seem an ideal choice for fixed riding, or is there something i'm missing?

  • yes SHIMANO!!!!hehehe! Campag ftw!!!

  • shimano is the curse

  • The Shimano Alfine gruppo is designed for comfort/trekking bikes, so I wouldn't expect top-notch performance.

In practical terms, there is a lack of crank length choices and a limited range of chainrings in both tooth count and pitch.

That said, for cummuting/leisure purposes it's probably a fine choice. Equally, for a singlespeed conversion with the splendid Alfine chain tensioner it's probably a winner.

    brilliant, awesome response, thanks!

i'd rep you if i could

  • 70 quid?! There are much nicer single chainsets for the money.

  • i run one, they are great, i think its the best looking external bb single ring crank in the price range by far

    • Chainring is for use with 9-speed chains and CS-S500 rear sprocket

How did you get round that?

Can you fit, regular chainrings on them?

One-one used to sell truvativ omnium complete ext BB chainset with track chainring for about £90 I think. I wonder if theyll get more in.
