double fixed = flip/flop hub with both sides ready for lockring. And I'm not sure if 28h for back wheel is enough but on the other hand I have to admit I'm kinda big fella and i like things ready for abuse ...

I am only 65-70kg (under 11 stone so i am hoping 28h will be ok). I need to locate black spokes and a black phil wood rear single fixed hub. Please help!

you should also figure out what length your spokes should be

Brick Lane Bikes will prob have a black phil
there are plenty of places out there for nipples and spokes, both available in black. Google is your friend. (make sure you buy brass nipples, NOT alloy) -

it wasn't exactly hard to find.

I reckon a flip-flop hub will be a little bit easier for your first build, because it is symmetrical (equal tension on each side, same length spokes)... also flip-flop is more versatile for useage.
Search 'black spokes' on here, you will get something. I used dotbike ages ago but prices are higher now I think - try cyclebasket for good prices. -

Im looking into this at the moment for my own wheels.
Halo and ACI make black DB stainless spokes. ACI's are reasonably priced on cyclebasket in a range of sizes (apart from the ones I need). Be careful because CB's p&p is taking the piss for small orders.
Nipples, well... I bought black DT brass and they were not cheap.
BLB stock Halo/ACI spokes also at .75 a pop. They are .35 on CB.

Chainreaction is cheaper for the prolock brass nipples.
But yes, google away.

sorry to be a cunt and hijack this but didn't want to start yet another thread...
I'm after a Phil Wood high flange rear hub, 32 hole, 120mm axle width, double-fixed in polished. brand new.
Thought this would be easy but only BLB seem to have one in stock at £160 and I don't want to pay that much... Any ideas? I've tried the obvious places. Must be double-fixed.

Have a look at this:

Put in your hub, rims and it'll calculate the spoke length. -

Buy the book, print it and read it. Best instruction manual I have read :p

Hi guys,
I need to get a wheel rebuilt and would like to get it sorted quick...BLB said it would be about a week, but is there somewhere I can get it done quicker than that?
Thanks,
Frank -

I can do it for you quicker than that but only if you have all the parts. I don't stock any parts but order them in as required. What do you need doing? New pattern? New rim?

Sorry to yet again hijack this thread, but does anyone know how the dimensions of an on one front hub (im guessing its a formula) compare to a gran compe rear? Basically I want to know if I can use the same length spokes for both wheels. I tried that calculator but I couldn't fathom it.
Cheers
Hi everyone
Sorry to be annoying and naive but I am building my first wheel. I need to source a Phil hub for my back wheel or something similar quality in black 28h. I don't really know what the difference between single and double fixed so advice on that would be appreciated as well.
I also need to source black spokes and nipples (not sure if black is avaiable) for the same wheel, can anyone suggest a suitable spoke or 28!
Thanks very much and feel free to insult my lack of knowledge.
