Sure just replace the frame while your at it:D.

I'd be interested to know how much you spent replacing all those parts

Hmm, list of parts? It'll just make me depressed, new (2nd hand) front and rear Mavic Open Pros £70, chopped bull horn bars plus tape £15, new chainset £25, seat and post from old bike free. I sold the old wheels on ebay and went for nearly the same amount i paid for the bike. I paid £120 for the bike so total is just over £200.
Still looking for a bottom bracket .........?? Anyone
And as for replacing the frame, i have a project I'm working on that i'll soon have finished. I hope.

Provided it is British thread get a Shimano UN54, comes in 107 mm. I have one in 111mm which you can have for free. Chainline won't be great, but hey...

I have a new bike, well the frame at least. And just scrabbling around for bits and pieces to get it built up. Chainset here, powder coat there, etc etc
It'll be out and about for summer and as I have really enjoyed the taking apart and fixing up again I'm in no rush. My bike is like the Bionic Man, i'm making it bigger, stronger FASTER. Well sort of.

i don't understand...whats the problem with wanting to rebuild a sub-standard bike into a better one?

I'm having a top time tinkering and asking lots of simple and inane questions about my bike. Don't sweat it.

its because in my position i realised how shit the unipack was, and that there is no way of making it much better, becuase none of the parts are worth keeping, i HAD to keep the cranks until quite recently but i would have prefered to not have depended on any of its parts, there all made of the worst quality.

i don't understand...whats the problem with wanting to rebuild a sub-standard bike into a better one?
Hi all, just joined the forum, and so far it's been a great source of information. Don't know if it was stupid of me, but bought this used bike few days ago, and wondering if anyone actually has any more info on it. I have a feeling it was a bit of a noob mistake, but I thought I'd gradually make it into a better one. The BB actually went on it today, so that's been 'upgraded'... :)
I actually don't think it's half bad, quite like it...Thanks!

it's a unipack, there are plenty of threads regaling there integrity. Upgrade everything (you'll end up needing to anyway) and then buy a new frame and move all the good bits over, sell frame as scrap.

Jayzuz, just read all the threads regarding unipacks... Oh well, I'm in the same boat as PQR and nosferatu were, so I guess the only way is up... new BB is a start...:)
Gumtree's bicycle section should hotlink to this forum...

you know the saying, it like enjoying decaf for the rest of your life until you had the real thing? same concept, the bike isn't bad, until you have a proper bike (that actually been designed properly) is when you realise how bad the unipack is.

Kyle, what happened to your rear wheel disguised as a front?
Hello,
I was one of the eejits who bought a unipack a while ago before i knew about this forum. Due mainly to the quality being rubbish and breaking (and lack of funds) I've replaced nearly everything on the bike apart from the h/s, frame and brakes. Now I've got some interesting noises coming from the BB so time for that one to go and get a new one in.
So this is really a two parter of:
1) Does anyone know which BB will go into the bike
2) Does anyone have the time/inclination and know how of wanting to help me out and swap the bbs over?
Thanks
Phil
