  • Newbie here, in process of getting my first single speed after having my Specialized Crossroads nicked last Friday.

The galling thing about that bike being stolen was that it was in a coded area of my workplace, so some fugger at the office block must have given them the code. The management had the theiving scum recorded nicking my bike and two others as well as the getaway in their van.

Anyway reported this with the details of the CCTV images held by the management of the office block to the police on the same evening. Got a letter yesterday from the Met, saying they had closed the case cos of insuffiecent evidence. The letter was dated March 28, I reported it at March 27. Go figure.

Surely that can't be right? Have you followed it up? Try contacting the police again. This case should interest them--likely serial offenders; CCTV footage; perhaps evidence about the van--does the CCTV show the registration clearly enough? Tell them this must be a computer error and whether they could reconsider. If you get a sensible person, they might at least be able to explain to you what happened there. I don't know if you can go to the Police Complaints Commission over a small thing like this, but it just doesn't add up.
