Keirin in Japan

Posted on
  • I am off to Japan soon for 3 weeks and will be in tokyo from end of April to beginning of May. Does anyone know where to see any Keirin races, how to get tickets and if its the right time at all? I was thinking of a bike free holiday but can't resist since I am there anyway. Any good advice welcome. Might also check out the Japan bike shop thread.

  • sounds great you should try these people

    www.keirintherealdeal.com

if they dont know it, its not worth knowing

  • also if you search you should be able to find a thread by tomity? i think which lists all the keirin tracks in japan? or at least tokyo. also a few other threads discuss good bike shops in tokyo and in a few other parts of japan.

  • Pete lives in Tokyo.

  • I'm heading out on the 12th April and was hoping to catch a few races. keirintherealdeal doesn't seem to work for me :-(

  • It was a cleverly disguised link to the search function on this very forum..

Have a look at Tomity's velodromes in Japan thread to find out where the nearest ones are and then talk to the people on here who have made threads about visiting such places..

  • Yes, there are also a few keirin threads in addition to tomity's thread,

  • I live in Kobe actually.. sorry!

[ame]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keirin[/ame] <-- At the bottom, has the major races

With regards to tickets, just turn up, they only cost 50yen! (thats like, 35p)

  • thanks for all the info. I am checking
