  • I use them for snowboarding - they are great due to the cable system they have - however as you say i have no doubt the cans they are based on are a lot cheaper - i got mine 2 years ago, and they have gone up about 20 quid since

  • Beatz by Dr. Dre are supposed to be some high quality headphones, they're being placed all over the place too, they're in every Lady GaGa video!! (I know... I shouldn't know that...)

  • Skull Candy for headphones seem to be popular, I love mine.

As for MP3 players, cant go wrong with Sony, make sure it is the drag and drop version. My reasoning for suggesting sony is that the battery life is amazing (up to 50 hours)

  • sennheiser hd25 for work - location recording
shure se530s for music - pita is that i ended up re-ripping all my cds to uncompressed (flac) cos they showed up compression artifacts more than any cans ive ever used!

  • Grado FTW

1+, SR-80 is the best value headphone ever, make other sound very tinny in comparison, even £300 sennheiser sound a bit shit compare to them.

downside? not exactly usable in public transport for instance, but still worth getting.

  • money absolutely no object senn just released hd800, meant to be phenomenal

  • Grado SR125's for home use, Bose Triport when travelling and Shure E2C for general ipod stuff / when i dont want to take a big pair of headphones

money no object would be grado ps1000 but havent seen them cheaper than £1200

  • My collection currently stands at:

Shure SE210's for casual day to day listening airports, trains etc.
Skullcandy Hesh for when I go snowboarding or occasionally on the bike because they're £40 so I don't care if they get broken.
Skullcandy Icon/recruits, again £20 half decent sound quality so don't care if they get broken or damaged whilst boarding and stuff, though I mostly use my Hesh these days for that as the sound quality is better, but nice to have a back up pair, I don't like to board or do other things without my tunes.
Sennheiser HD25's for music at home (from when I used to DJ wayyyy back) beautiful sound quality, by I hesitate to take them snowboarding etc etc because I don't want to break them.

  • These aren't quite in the same league as some of those up there ^^^, but the sound quality appears to me to be really decent, and the price isn't all that bad either.
They're good for me cos they let out hardly any noise, and they somehow manage to play at a much louder volume from my mp3 player and laptop than my old headphones did.

    Numark PHX-1

  • Shure for sure. I just got some SE310s and they are incredible.

    +1

  • skull candy sound like shit and fit terrible. for the price i've a pair of sony and a pair of roland i used when i dj'd that sound just as good if not better, and canceled noise much better. i have shure ear buds for when i ride. i still use my gen one nano to listen on the ride. at home it's strictly technics 1200sl through my PA.
