HowTo: Ignore anything and everything

why if you have someone on ignore can they still leave you messages on your visitors page? .. sure, I cant see their message... but they are still there on "my" page...and of course, everyone else can see them, if I want to ignore that person why cant they effectively be blocked from all communications with me? At least before we had the option to delete unwanted messages but that function was eliminated.

I know you can disable the visitors page but why do I have to do that just to avoid the ones I want to ignore?

There is a setting for accept public messages and accept private messages only from friends and contacts. In edit options.
