I'd put money into a decent frame and wheels with whatever componentry fitted the budget.
I don't see an old Carbolite gate with Nittos as a winner.
Not that there's anything specifically wrong with that, if it makes you happy!
Perhaps consider a moderately priced OTP (secondhand?) and then a rolling upgrade program as you establish exactly what you require from each component.
Then when you've upgraded everything, rebuild the OTP and sell it!
