Just tried Sheldoning it, and it's a bit better, but I'm gonna keep playing.
Pip, it's the difference between being very tigh (just how I like it) and looser, not crazy loose, but it's just annoying, and noisy.
And Dog's, no Biopace is shit!

TA rings are pretty shit. I've got one on my bike and it's pretty hard to get perfect chain tension.
I thought it was an Ok ring! :(
Has yours always done this?
-
• #54
Yup. It's not awful by any means...just a little (read a lot) annoying not being able to keep the chain tension the same throughout the crank rotation. At its slackest it isn't dangerously (or embarrassingly) droopy. You get what you pay for I guess. TA rings aren't bad but they're just not as good as Sugino/DA.

Damn my shallow wallet! :(

i get ya Dunc. if you can't see any distortion in the ring it self maybe it's a combination of chain ring, tight spot in the chain and rear cog
Looks like you got a fun evening testing man. process of elimination it is

did you make a sacrificial offering to tynan? said the magic words? etc etc
Tynan demands payment upfront. Until then your bike will slowly degrade into a Unipak
Does he take Solo or Electron?
Ye mockers shall feel the lick of my flame.

BioPace is fine... I have a bike with BioPace on it and it's quite a nice ride... It is geared though.
-
• #72
maybe the cog on the rear isnot really round either, you can try putting the wheel in another position and try it again?
-
• #73
and you might want to move your chainring around a bolt or two
-
• #74
and pat your head and rub your tummy, whilst putting your left leg in and your right leg out..
-
• #75
put the old chainring back on.
fuck. my friend is riding around on a fixed gear with one of those biopace rings... been meaning to swap it for him! thankfully he doesn't ride that often. the slacker.
