BMX freewheels are the same threading as others (even cogs), except the mini ones that have less than 15T, they use a smaller thread... and the Left Hand Drive ones..
You can happily and safely use a 3/32 freewheel with your 1/8 chain, I second DeadlyCB's suggestion of a shimano. Mine has lasted a couple of years.
