she can have my helmet....
You disgust me...
jeopardising your standard of cycle safety for a woman who clearly doesn't understand the concept of cycling well enough to realise that she's not on a real bicycle...
Poor show...

I do understand what you mean, but you're dead wrong. Maybe the post wasn't aimed at me, but it was aimed at Will, who said that I was clever and thoughtful (his words, not mine I might add). By trying to undermine his comment by referring to posts I'd made and threads I'd started, like it or not, that *is *a personal dig at me! As I said anyway, if you're going to have a dig at me, at least try and undermine the argument, rather than the person who's posting - it only suggests you haven't got a strong and well-structured argument to respond with.
In any case, you keep saying that this wasn't aimed at me - maybe you'd care to explain what your intention of referring to my posting history was then?
Well, this is possibly a prompt for you to take your own advice above /\/\/\/\/. My posts on this thread were never aimed at you - regardless of the fact you started the thread. I appreciate the effort you must have put in to make some money for charidee, but whether it was your intention or not, the thread has been derailed into something else. I don't hold you personally responsible for this and haven't suggested it either. There's no need to take it personally or feel the need to respond just because I've taken issue with what someone else has posted on 'your' thread.
Lots of people have PM-ed me to thank me for taking a stand on this, while practically everyone I spoke to on the memorial ride supported my actions. I would still have said what I did whether a thousand people had said that to me or none. Surely the fact that some people don't like what people are posting on this thread is enough to reconsider its place, and whether its content is appropriate for a fixed wheel cycling forum?
I don't consider myself to be taking the moral high ground on this issue - nor do I consider myself in any way 'better' than anyone else just because I don't feel the need to grunt and high-5 over pictures of women. I just didn't think this macho-sexist culture actually existed on this site.
This thread makes me think of that Duff beer commercial from the Simpsons...
Women with Signs: Down with sexism! Down with sexism!
Man 1: Look at all those feminists.
Man 2: Are you thinking what I'm thinking?
[they both reach for bottles of beer, shake them up, and spray the foam on the protesters. This magically turns them into dancing bikini models.]
Both Men: Yeah! All right!Hi Mooks, well done for working out that the post was a dig at Will, I thought it was a little presumtious of him to state that you were 'clearly one of the smartest, most thoughtful people on the forum'. I now feel vindicated. You state 'like it or not, that *is *a personal dig at me' wheras what you actually mean is 'like it or not, I am taking it as a personal dig at me' . You then say 'if you're going to have a dig at me, at least try and undermine the argument, rather than the person who's posting' which is clearly a contradiction, that suggests you once again didn't listen when I said 'I have not sided and instead have listened and tried to learn'.
From what you've said it sounds like:
You would like to 'win' an argument that doesn't exist between us. There is no argument, I don't like your high minded, egotistical manner, that isn't an argument it is a fact. You would like me and the rest of the forum to know that you have lots of friends who think your views are correctly aligned with theirs, that is what you need to feed you insecurities.
Your posts make me think of someone who was bullied but still can't work out why so wastes their time looking for acceptance and cause where there is none.

Well said Corney. Just back from a gorgeous ride into London, meeting went well, no demos or broken glass, met JimBilly in Victoria (thank you, young man, you are a total gent) and the sun is still shining.
Shut down the computers and get out there! Life is far, far too short to be misssing the moment.

There was one other little thing which seemed inconsistent about the baseless ad hominems which seem to be pajamas' hobby;
what I objected to here was the reduction of a group of champion cyclists to the rating of them in terms of the sexual attraction they held for you as a posturing heterosexual male
doesn't seem to reconcile well with this
have the balls to admit it's you that's got a jones for lycra'd cocks,
from http://www.londonfgss.com/post568072-15.html
I suppose I might be posturing as heterosexual to cover up some closeted homosexual urges, but if I were planning to stay in the closet it would seem needlessly reckless to start a thread which would so openly invite pajamas to accuse me of being queer (of course, he's much too PC to use that term, but the aggressive and accusatory tone suggests a deep seated homophobia).
Well, bisexuals confuse everybody, but especially unthinking, conformist, authoritarian 'progressives', who like everybody to fit into one of the narrow boxes their political masters have told them about. A rather unthinking heterosexist attitude is also betrayed by this
imagine all the girls on the forum posting group pictures of boys on the forum in their lycra or in their civvies but in any case on their bikes and then loudly and gleefully and constantly posting their opinions of which they would fuck first, second, third and fourth. And imagine you were always the one they took the piss out of for being ugly, small-cocked and insignificant.
That's not very equal opportunities, is it? I would hope that some of the boys would also feel qualified to comment, although they would be more likely to dismiss me as slow, bald and fat; persons of both genders who are qualified to comment have been very complimentary about my genital endowment.
Anyway, enough of the piss taking, this post needs some on topic content to leaven the pointless political argumentation, so here's a woman on a bicycle. I hpe none of you is distracted from her undoubted athletic ability by impure thoughts about how good looking she may or may not be, for pajamas sees your impure thoughts and waxes wroth

Unlike the innocent female cyclist victims of candid photographers, who are exploited against their will, this woman is complicit in her own exploitation by the patriarchal conspiracy to subjugate wimmin...er...which means she's a traitor to her sex and...er...no better than a man, so if any of you fancy her you must be...er...queer.

goodness, you do read an awful lot into things don't you? you can't get off this personal tip either, not matter how much help I tried to give you last night to address the issue - banging on about ad hominems is a bit of a joke considering your words here.
anyway, can't believe you're still all worked up about something I posted late last night.. but, like, good. now off you go to find more sexitime pictures.. a whole forum is waiting on your expertise, just not sure it's this one.
And to other people, seeing as it was never mitre tester I was primarily addressing, no matter how personally he has involved himself in things: I'm happy with what I posted last night and may still post similar should grown men continue to behave like boys from a particularly backwater secondary school. and that includes you teenslain - you really are old enough to know better.

suppose it's kind of worth saying I've only looked at this cos I was waiting for a fax so I'll be back to taking no notice of this thread from now on, so live it up on the pics front you crazy cats, just would be nice to see the ratings / comments bit subside like a post-coital tumescence.

No, the only reason you looked at this is that you can't stand the idea that your puny ideas are being challenged without your getting another chance to try to ram your stupidity down people's throats once again. Remember, pajama-boy, you're the one trying to change the world in your image; normal liberal people are quite content to be their own censor, because they know that delegation of this responsibility is the path to totalitarianism. Only your control-freakery keeps bringing you back here. I'm here for the pix of hot chix, I like them. I have legitimate business on this thread. This forum is run, whether for ideological or simply pragmatic reasons, with fairly light moderation and the kindly coder has given you ample opportunity to be your own censor, but you keep torturing yourself by constantly returning to threads which you know will offend you, and you keep torturing us by thinking that we, who have chosen to look at this thread for its stated purpose, have any interest in your dictatorial self-aggrandisement.
Now, back to the lady cyclists...
