Uneven tire wear

  • Skid patches on back tires, does everyone get them wearing through in only 2 or 3 spots on the tire or does it all wear evenly? when I skid theres only 2 / 3 places on the tire that it wears through and after ive skidded through the tire most of the surface is a bit worn but not completely fucked like those few spots. is this to do with gear ratio? is there a way of getting it to wear through more evenly to make the tire last longer?

  • it's because of your gearing.

  • Get a prime number on the back sprocket.

  • once a week or month take the chain off the cog and rotate it a quarter and put back on, or buy more skid patches - £20 from any decent lbs.

  • I've got some skid patches going spare... pm me an offer.

i knew i could rely on the collective wisdom, thanks I never thought of moving the chain & cog postition, thats all I needed to know

  • If you run a 17t sprocket you will always have 17 skidpatches.

    This might help you:

Not true, you're not taking coprimes into consideration.

For example, If you ran 51/17 you'd have 1 skid patches.

  • 53/20 = 20 / 40 ambi skidder
