Minor bump as I post the solution that I came up with
Apologies for the crap photo - it was only later that I realised that the camera had focused on the floor and not the tool setup but you can see what was going on.
1 x M8 bolt (not perfect but it held)
2 x M8 washers
1 x M8 nut to hold the washers against the tool
Worked a treat. All for the grand sum of £1.
