The kryptonite locks that can be picked with a biro are years old now, all the new ones are sound.

Oh, and for what it's worth, it's an Ambrosio (little blue sticker) silver rim with a black Bontrager Racelight 23" tyre, flip-flop hub, with an 18t cog and lockring.
I'm slightly excited about getting a new wheel but obviously wasn't prepared financially. If anyone can help me out with spares please let me know.

My mate just got his bike stolen from outside Fresh and Wild in Stoke Newington about half an hour ago. He just went in to buy a pizza, said he wasn't gone more that ten minutes. And he had a Kryptonite New York Chain on it!
Just in case it ends up on the Gumtree, it's a black/green singlespeed Ridley with Colnago forks and Belleri porteur bars. A month old Tour de Ville special no less. -

jesus, gone 10 mins with a krypto fug on it!! what more can you do. mental note - must remember both locks at all times.

just a bump in case anyone sees any of my parts off of the geekhouse:
purple profile hubs on open pro cds, black spokes and purple gran compe tyres- not too many in the country:
and obviously the frame.
paul cranks, all black, regal saddle with a button missing and clearly used. -

Nope, and locked to a street light so no chance of getting lifted off either. Must have been picked or cut. F knows, I can hardly believe it myself, still we're gonna go to the lane of Bricks on Sunday. I'd be amazed if it turns up there though. Surely someone with the ability to break that lock in that time will be pretty pro and so it'll be dismantled and sold on ebay.
It is pretty shit that there can be no lesson learned from the situation though, I mean really what could you do more safely? Two locks in that situation wouldn't have faired much better I suspect. And of course the lock always goes so you can't see how it was cracked.F'in' Cs

fyi. Me and the missus had both our seatposts with Brooks saddles attached stolen last night by subhuman scum while shackled to the bike racks at the corner of Railway Street and York Way. Another chap had a rear wheel robbed at the same time (it wasn't locked though). In hindsight we shouldn't have left them there as the signs weren't good (ie quite road in Kings X) but...don't think I'll be leaving a bicycle there in future.
Do we reckon the saddles will find there way onto stolen bikes or will be sold individually? -

I've got one to add to list :-(
My nice white fixie with orange-striped tires was nicked outside the pub on the park in london fields a few hours ago. it's not posh but i love it, ridden it loads around london over the last six months, and even to germany via belgium a coupe of times. bought it second hand and am no bike geek, so i can't rattle off too many names of the various bits, but here's what i do know.. . .
(I can't recall the brand of the tires, but I guess I'll find out Monday when the bike shop opens)dirty white bar tape, white specialized seat.
frayed nylon straps.
left crank much shinier than right as i repaced it just last week.
the wheels are a bit too small for the frame / forks, which is why it has no brakes.
there are mounting brackets for a couple gadgets on the handle bars, though.
drop handlebars, a bit on the skinny side.
don't quote me on these, but i believe i had 47 teeth on the front and 21 & 18 tooth cogs on the back.
i don't recall the make of the rims, but the rear is a fair way off true. they're both shalllow (if that's the right word for not deep)short version: white frame/seat/bar tape, bright orange tires
see y'all at brick lane in a few hours!!!!
if you see someone on this bike, yell "oi, tom!" and if the dude doesn't respond, open fire. ta!

how was it stolen?

it was locked with another bike... i went outside to unlock the other for my mate, then we got involved in a really really heavy conversation for a couple of minutes - i got distracted and went back inside. it wasn't locked! two minutes later we noticed it was gone - we could see from where we were sitting!!! :-(

Oh, shit. How utterly frustrating!
I once unwittingly left my bike not locked in Central London, at my usual locking-up place, in full view of passers-by, for an entire day. When I returned and found it not locked but still there, I almost died. It's a horrible feeling.
A huge number of bikes have been nicked from outside the PotP over the years. It's quite an awkward environment where the sightlines aren't too good. Commiserations.
