  • Any ideas? They still don't seem to have a website/ any other way to make life easier.

    Tom

  • I'm guessing you mean what time ??

If anyone knows their hours tomorrow too that'd be grand

  • websites up next week apparently, close at 7:00pm I think, best thing to do is look for andypancakes number in the numbers thread and give him a shout. Can't remember what saturday opening hours are.

" open from 10:00am - 7:00pm, Monday to Friday and 11:00am - 6:00pm on Sunday and Saturday. The address is 13 Elys Yard, The Truman Brewery, E1 6QL - For more information contact us at:shopfourteen@live.co.uk."

  • i hate that shop...but then again i hate blb too

  • why?

  • i hate that shop...but then again i hate blb too

now back that up with a reason, and not just "they are bringing fixed gear to the masses so I dont feel exclusive and special anymore"

  • I popped in there yesterday at lunch time. Very pretty shop and the staff were friendly and helpful.

  • sorry about the no website thing for the moment, but the blog is being updated frequently now
    (on the case y'know)

    sorry for the confusion

  • WEBSITE UP in a few days..

  • ok I'll back it up, I don't care that fixed bikes are becoming mainstream, what I hate is 1400 quid for an ok, not amazing bike, also the attitude of some of the people in blb stinks, so unhelpfull! I'm sure you will all have different expirences to me but it's just my opinion

  • so nothing really then about 14?

  • From what I saw when I was in there, their own bikes (with brand new frames built specially for them) are going for about £600 and up.. The frames look decent and depending on the parts they're fitted with the price sounds fair enough to me.

As for the staff, when some of us lunchtime rollers rocked up I think it was Andy Pancake that was pulling out parts just to them show off, probably knowing full well we were just in there for a nosey..

Having not been to BLB I can't comment but the shop having been open for such a short space of time I'd hesitate to paint them both with the same brush if I were in your position

  • i think 14 are a breath of fresh air and are giving everyone exactly what they want. respect. i really hope they continue to give BLB a run for their money, they need a good shake up.

  • Got to make sure I head over there one lunch hour next week. Do they have any nice tubular rims?

  • cavendish have a pair of gorgeous araya tubular rims in stock. they're lovely and a good price methinks.

  • Really. What colour, how much are they?

I have problems with people's attitudes sometimes too.
Like when they can't even be bothered to type their dumb questions properly.

You sound like an idiot, if I worked in retail I'd probably treat you like one too.

  • the staff in 14 are a shit load more helpful, approachable and generally nicer than blb. i've spent over 1k from blb and you'd expect some after sales service, and its not lost in translation. the impression i got was that they played on my bike naivety and knowledge and essentially ripped me off.

you live and you learn, but i won't be buying from them again.

  • Hmm, sounds good in there.

When it first popped up I was skeptical, and didn't bothered going, thinking it was another BLB. Not local for me either, I only head up there for Rough Trade.

  • Really. What colour, how much are they?

polished silver. no idea about price. hot damn though.

  • dealing with blb has been ok, they've been very helpful. 14 went the extra mile though, really friendly, willing to chat and help you, the whole atmosphere of the place is just a cut above. they installed a new bb and cranks for me while i waited, there and then. also are always really friendly when i just pop in to have a nosey.

i'm hoping to get on the cycle scheme and get summat built up from them. one day my boss will be in a good mood i hope

  • also several of the bikes are drool worthy.

really nice guys, but then I don't have many problems with many bike stores- except 1 in oxford.
    fucking cycle king cunts.
oh and a slight anger at another in oxford who make it seem like you must spend over £500 to get any kind of service, but they do have an excellent choice of pedals.

  • its all about evans
