  • speaking of skidding, do anyone know any gumwall tyres that are decent enough (i.e. last a while) for skidding?

  • randonneur, but you'd want a 22+mm rim

19mm internal diameter, 25 external diameter, will that do it?

  • thats a standard 700 rim, 32 would be the max, depends on tyres though. increased risk of rolling off.

  • hmmm I might stick with 32c then

  • What the hell 80psi?! thats well shit, anything thats equally as good that you would recommend that will take 110-120 psi comfortably?

  • schwalbe marathons are pretty strong

schwalbe marathon plus are really strong but heavier.

  • ted is using that 38, but with the charge rims which are wide.

80-90psi is fine on those tyres

  • Wider tyres will not have the higher pressure rating because they don't need it for their intended use. Just pump them up to 100 psi and they will be fine.

I used to pump up a cheap BMX tyre rated for 40 psi to 90 psi.

  • What the hell 80psi?! thats well shit, anything thats equally as good that you would recommend that will take 110-120 psi comfortably?

the Randonneur are labelled 85psi but you can pump it up to 120psi easily and end up feeling thinner than they are.

  • At 120 psi you are more likely to damage your rims due to lack of cushioning unless you are bottoming out regularly I'd leave it at 100 psi max

  • they are thin as they are designed for a 22mm touring rim

  • Rims are Rigida sputniks if that helps?

  • I'm pretty sure I got the measurements right.

  • they are a touring rim so bigger tyre should be fine.

  • sweet so for now its a toss up between randonneurs or those schwalbe tyres.....

  • I might just go randonneurs I guess, good enough for ted.....good enough for me!

  • Cheers for all the advice Dale :)
