There's one line from that which I use quite a lot.. When Rimmer has a swig of the whiskey and says 'smooth' in a very strained voice

Yeah, the jokes were a bit flat without the laughter track.

Back to Earth was on tonight and is on again tomorrow.. anyone see it?

Yeah, the jokes were a bit flat without the laughter track.
Yeah. Dunno what was wrong but it really wasn't that good. Seemed like the cast were just going through the motions & there was some CGI that really didn't fit. Shame cos I was hoping it would be really good. Having said that it did get better as it went on so maybe the other 2 will improve - not holding out much hope though.

Did you notice in the rescreening of the old episodes afterwards DAVE had cut some jokes?
Cheeky fuckers. -
• #113
What episodes were shown afterwards? I recently watched series one remastered and they cut a lot from the episodes.
As for the show last night. It was awful. Also, maybe just me being a muppet but what was that '9 years later' all about? In the last ep of series 8, weren't all the crew still alive? Including Rimmer?

i also thought it was wierd without the canned laughter - although i dont usually like canned laughter.
pretty crappy in general though - they all looked like tired old men (except kryten) Cat has aged pretty well.
Obviously the crack has taken its toll on craig charles.. -

it was never going to be great.. Dave just can't afford to do the show justice :(
-

^^^ x2
Wow, that was utter gash indeed. I was half expecting it to be a bit cack but it was worse than i thought. Maybe it's cos they havent been those characters for years but the cat and rimmers acting was pretty awful.
Presumably they killed kochanski cos she wanted nothing to do with it? Maybe if its successful the budget will increase next time? There was zero budget in the first series and it was fantastic, maybe the franchise is just a bit tired now.Gunmen of the apocalypse ftw.

sad... but it's made me want to re-watch the originals. i did quite like the metaphysical quandary introduced in the 2nd episode though!

The new stuff isn't doing much for me.. but the old stuff will never lose its charm.

I agree the first new episode err was shite. I kept seeing Rimmer and was thinking he's in the Rovers Return. Missed tonights episode so will have to wait until Monday but I think I will be let down ;o((
Smoke me a kipper, I'll be back for breakfast..................

Not bad, but lacks the charm of the older stuff.

they went back to Earth in Kingston's John Lewis??
That's almost as scary as knowing what the inside of Kingston's John Lewis looks like.

they went back to Earth in Kingston's John Lewis??
ahaha my flatmate spent most of the episode trying to work this out. He said instantly it was a JL but didnt know kingston, I will go put him out of his missery.
The new episodes were never going to be as good as the old ones (specially as its only one of the writers doing it). I totally agree with new are crap, old are always going to be great.

• #124
aghhhhh i cant take this, these episodes are the worst fucking ever!!!!!! put a nail in the coffin now for fuck sake.....i love reddwarf and these episodes are a fucking avertisement for dave only!!!!!!!!!!! ........the only way they could make this better is if they start from scratch and throw away the cash given to them by capitalism!!!!

yeah, disappointing. it all felt a bit rushed. the script didn't make sense, the jokes were (mostly) crap and the acting was pretty bad (the Cat... ugghh).
maybe they were seeing if there was enough interest to be bothered producing a proper series, but to me it really looked like they were going through the motions.
Agreed
