  • yeah, you can join BC without a club as a private member, that's what i did last year. you can even pay on the day, but it's really expensive.

try the track starts next wed (1st april). a chance to get some last minute training in.

check this from the SCRL site:

It’s “all change” at Preston Park this season as far as the B-category seniors are concerned. The top few riders in the 2008 rankings have been catapulted into the A-league, as have some B riders who achieved brilliant results in the small number of meets they attended last year. Exact details will be announced in April.

This master-stroke on the part of organiser Vern McClelland will evenly balance the two senior categories in 2009 and bring even more interesting racing to both leagues.

And there’s more important news for all those riders lining up in the B races this year, as the promotion situation has now been formalised. From now on, five race wins in B races will mean automatic promotion to the A ranks. (Please note, “race wins” does not include heats of any sort, but it does include handicap finals.)

Not only that, but the way the B league is decided overall will be changed for this season. The winner of the B league will simply be the first rider to be promoted to “A” status (if any rider is promoted). The second overall “B” will be the second rider promoted, and so on. Obviously, if no rider is promoted, the winner will be the one with most league points.

So, this system will no doubt put the (“B”)-cat among the pigeons in 2009. If this scheme had been in place last season, Charlie Heffernan would have won the B league after seven meetings and would have disappeared into the senior A stratosphere, leaving all the other Bs to vie for second place overall.

There is no doubt that this will put a highly interesting slant on the B-cat racing this year. No longer will riders be content to achieve a second placing and five points in any particular event, it will be that crucial race win which will count and which could just lead to automatic promotion and the prestigious B-league title and the accompanying £50 cheque and plaque!

    interesting!
