Wanted: Mixte frame for the lady

I'm sure I'm not the only one after a mixte frame for my girlfriend but thought I'd give it a shot here.

She's quite tall, so needs to be 21"–22". She wants it light, ideally 531 throughout. Probably going to get it resprayed so it can be in fairly shoddy condition.

Thanks for the post but it's got to be a real mixte with the split top tube running down to the rear axle.

I have one but unfortunatly its not for sale, but look on gumtree etc... as I got mine for £20 complete.

Thanks fasteddy, but I think that's going to be a bit tight – girlfriend is 5'11". Been looking everywhere, including Gumtree, but they're always either too heavy or too small.

Cool, go plan B, convince her that diamond frame is the way forward. Then you can buy the 55cm 753 Condor F&F I have for sale! ;-)

Peugeot did a lovely model of this, there's one outside the house, in pale metallic blue.

There's loads for sale at the moment. My girlfriend picked up a Raleigh Wisp in really good condition for £60 a few months ago and her mate, upon seeing it, decided she had to have one too and basically bought the same bike off eBay last week.

Yeah, there are plenty of Wisps and Mistys out there but they're all quite heavy. A friend of mine has got a Peugeot and that's too heavy as well. My girlfriend used to have a city bike, followed by a Ridgeback hybrid and definitely doesn't want to go back to the heavy-handedness of a city bike. So she wants speed and lightness – but with girliness. Yep, picky picky.

Good luck looking my gf is also 5'11" not many mixte frames around that big.

The brief from my gf (she knows nothing about bikes) was it needs to be like a 1920's speed boat.

I thought the Misty and the Mixte were one and the same?

Mixte is the shape of the frame

AND

Misty is a specific model of a mixte frame made by Raleigh. I think all the Mistys are burgundy and Champaign.

I know I've got a bit of a challenge on my hand. I've tried to convince her to get a diamond frame in a girly colour like edscoble's girlfriend's bike but looks like she's set on the mixte.

How small do you think we could go in frame size? There seem to be a few slightly smaller ones around. Seen someone here selling a Raleigh Richmond which is 53cm...

I don't really have a reference point, I don't pick up other people's bikes. I know it's lighter than my Standard 250 BMX, and heavier than my Fuji Track.

I just picked up a Raleigh Caprice ladies frame on Ebay for the GF for the sum of seven and a half quid. I wish blokes frames were as cheap.

As luck would have it though managed to land a beauty of a ladies race frame (dropped top tube not mixte) on this forum and it hade Riva decals on it (thanks coppithat).
Should be finished in the next few days, might even be able to get the gf out on the treasure hunt.
