I've been think about doing something similar for a while. My frame has no decals or markings on at all, and my gf (art student) has agreed to design a dancing girl-style image for my headtube, which I was planning on getting printed on vinyl.
How would you guys 'secure' the vinyl to your frame? Just stick it on? Clear coat over the top?

Moog, that could be very interesting. What sort of printing do you do? Can it be colour jpgs or eps onto white vinyl? If so, are they waterproof and would you consider doing more than just jayloo's?
Custom made head badge and downtube lettering anyone? Yum!

Questions, questions, questions, and I don't really have any definite answers. My uni has just got a vinyl printer/cutter and I am yet to play with it properly.
The machine can print and cut pretty much any colour (or mix of colours) and any shape, Not sure what colour the vinyl comes other than white and clear. I'm guessing they are waterproof can't see why they wouldn't be.
I was going to use Jayloo's piece and some stuff I had lined up as a bit of an experiment and see how it turns out.

Cool, luck with it, could be a lot of happy post powder coat frames.

One thing to remember is that vinyl is pretty thick so even after a clear coat I think there would be a pretty noticeable bump.

I do signs and graphics for a living, if you use shit vinyl it shrinks and leaves a dirty glue halo around your graphic also you must make sure the ink is lightfast or it will fade, I think a better option (depending on your design) is to make a vinyl template spray the bastard on then remove the vinyl, same way they do the custom choppers and cars

Besides murtles dirty flaps, this could be another business opportunity Ed!
I've a jpg I'd like made into a decal, it's exactly the size I need, exactly the color I need. It's just one word.
If you can make me a decal for the bike, clear backing, lemme know how much you want.
