+1 for Midge bars - i've got them on my ss pompino - which i used for the Surrey Rumble a few weeks back - 100 miles that day - comfy as you like, though the fashion police aren't big fans.
My utility bike is all about function over form. Designed to commute through Norwegian winters; carry 50 Ltrs in panniers; or carry the nippa to nursery.
When the upgrading is finished finished it'll be...
Brandless, clear coated, alu hybrid frame
Carbon cycloX forks
Deore MTB groupset with V-brakes
Deore hubs laced 36 spoke 3x (plan to go 40 spoke rear, in future)
Full mudguards
32/28mm (R/F) tyres in the summer 40mm studded for winter
Midge bars with bar-end shifters.
double panniers with zip-on top bag or child-seat.
If it was'nt so utility-like, I would'nt have been able to justify building so much fun into my fixed ;)
