It wasn't just Timothy, everyone in the film seems to have some kind of personality disorder.
Even the doctor who conducted the post mortem was talking into camera in the strangest dramatic manner that seemed well outside the bounds of a professional doctor.
It's a film about personality disorders for me, or extremes of character. Werner was the only rational person present.
