the pitfalls are many and various in building up on own- length of brake stirrups, rear end width of frame, bars and stems in different diameters, stems have that prob both ends! Chain alignment, seat pin size, etc, etc.
Its not quite a black art but.......
Oh and you'll need a few decent tools too.....
And the g/f or Missus will be leaving you, as you be spending all your time with the bike- my Aunty put my Uncle's bike in their double bed as she felt he loved the bike more than her......
And there's the piles of "stuff" you accumulate, I mean building one bike isn't really going to satisfy you for long, there's always the next and better project.....................
