That was the plan. I learnt that lesson the hard way.

i took anodized paint off a set of alloys and it took forever even using paint stripper, first and last time!
could you not try to use sand paper and a bit of elbow grease??? just start with a medium/ fine grade wet and dry paper and then use a fine one to polish it up?

anodising comes off in seconds with caustic soda and water, or hot water to speed it up.

he does not want to remove annodising!!!

Yea nitromors is good, but u need gloves cos its also good at stripping skin ;)

It's the fumes that do the work with nitromors.
If you've got something that's got a really stubborn finish on it, lay the stripper on nice and thick. Wack it in a plastic bin bag, tie the top up and leave it for a while.
In that saturated air environment it'll eat through almost anything. -

Try some Cowper's Fluid...
-
• #112
99.9% sure it will. Wack it on, cover it with cling film and remove just before the slop dries.

I stripped a guitar once with nitromors, it was really sunny outside and I was only wearing shorts. As it was warm I thought a few lagers were in order. It took about an hour to realise that I had managed to splash the stuff all over myself. Sh*t it burned!

do you got "Albastine" in the UK? If so, use that, works perfect.

Has anyone tried this (successfully) with hammerite? Just bought a lovely old frame from an ex-courier who painted it (badly) with Hammerite and then cycled before it was dry, so there's lots of dirt embedded in the paint. Would love to restore it, but also watching pennies, so considering the DIY/nitromors option.
Any ideas gratefully received...
