Splitting the cranks isn't ideal (time) and the idea of heading to a PO fills me with fear (grannies), sorry.
The scrap frame should take a HS cup if you either bash the dent out of the top of the steerer tube first or whack the cup in with a frustrating amount of force... I've managed to fix worse before, but have no time/inclination for this one.
