been pumping my randos to 110/120 for a while by mistake, forgot they were 80 psi or whatever, they have been fine. i'm not runnign a tyre at lower than 100, feels terrible. if they pop at 120 then fine, im going back to 23s

The tyre was tricky to get on a Campag Omega, and it simply won't come off it! The bead is so tight and stiff I've broken 2 tyre levers. I'm going to have to buy steel levers tomorrow, which will mark my rims most likely.
Good job they're so hard to puncture because taking the tyre off by the road would never happen.
Spoons don't work either!

Is it likely for a Randonneur to ever go pop? They are not exactly the most delicate tyres. I woul dfeel pretty confident in running them at 100. I don't even know what mine are inflated to as I don't have a gauge but they are as hard as I can get them!

Thanks... but unless the tip is steel I don't think they'd do it.
This tyre needs medieval treatment!

The tip is steel, well that's what the pic on my the packet shows anyway. :)

before resorting to metal, have you use Pedro's tyre levers?

doubt it, the sidewall on the Randonneur is pretty thick, if a Continental Ultra Shit (otherwise known as Ultra Sport, extremely thin sidewall) can hold a pressure of 120psi, so can the Randonneur.

snoops, which bike have you got these on? Your polo bike? I wouldn't mind seeing if I can get your back wheel in my cutter: there's not much clearance even with my 23 in.

Mine are at 120ish, no problems so far, I've ended up on the red already after maybe a month or so, but i think thats due to them being super fun to skid on.
after the red there is 6 layers, i did a test on my polo bike, they just kept on going and going.g-blouse, too hard to put on, not enough psi, too slow. HTFU

But it's not exactly the rubber that holds the pressure.... now is it?
But off cause they'll hold up to 120.. -

Haha. I came to the same conclusion earlier today. I tried several kinds in a shop and the pedros one was the one that worked. The park tools did lift the tyre but wouldn't slide.
It seems it's not the tyre that's particularly tricky, it's my rims. There is no room them and the tyre gets tighter instead of looser as you push from the lip.

no got one on the gitane. dunno when you'll see me on it really unless i bump into you out and about.
i have a spare randonneur though if you want to borrow/buy?
-
• #365
How much do you want for the spare Snoops? Is it used?
-
• #366
well had it on the front for a few days before i thought double 28s was a bit overkill.
anyway im in manchester so can't really be arsed posting a tyre, i'd rather keep as spare or give yawn at polo.
wiggle for £11 pistanator

I already have one, can never have too many spare tyres, thought you may have been local....never mind
They're £15 on wiggle now

My local, Brixton = £3.10 for a Guinness, 70p for a bag of scratchings OR 65p for a bag of roasted nuts
-

Jeeez, the pub I work in Guinness is £3.30 and when we used to sell pork scratchings they were at least £1 if not more.
Off-license FTW six Guinness for £5, and 50p for the scratchings! :)

not a bad ride night . . .
i pumped it up to 100 . . . might try 110 now lol
2.4's on the Rush, at 45 psi.
Never had a pinch flat.
23's on the road bike at 120, ditto.
