Nikon Warranty Repair

My wife snapped the hook on her camera which secures the flash when closed.

Most of the authorized service centres say that the unit must be sent to Nikon for repair and it may be 5 weeks before it's returned.

Is this timeframe accurate for a seemingly easy fix?

If she wanted it serviced quicker at a nominal cost where should we take it?

  • you can try sendean in soho, website below, I've had a couple of old camera's fixed by them, they are not exactly cheap as chips, but get the job done...

  • fixation uk

  • http://www.fixationuk.com/Fixation/Repairs.html they are an authorised Nikon service centre, with in house repair guys unlike a lot of so called "authorized repair centres" so can carry out warranty repairs etc on site without having to send the camera off, they do my sensor cleaning, and help out a lot of local pro's that I know.

  • Thanks guys!

Fixation wasn't on Nikon's official list but I'll give them a call.

  • They'll need to see the camera to determine if it's a warranty issue, and whether it's been dropped or abused.

Otherwise the cost is £12 for parts and £65 for labour, with a two day turnaround.

  • They're not on the Nikon Official Consumer list as they would come under Nikon Professional Services which is something different entirely, good guys, they know their stuff.

  • If you end up having to pay, my advice would be to Sellotape the on-body flash shut and get a Speedlight.

  • If you are near Richond you can drop the camera to them. I would check the Nikon website to see if there are any recalls or updates needed for your camera.

I deeply hate that place... they kept me waiting for 3 cameras to be cleaned and checked for one week, then said it would take other two weeks. then I found out that the cameras were in Tunbridge Wells, I had to get them couriered back on my expences, sent out to John camera repair (east london, amazing guy for medium format and mechanical cameras) got them back 3 days later (over a weekend) for a third of the price that sendean cameras quoted...

    I hate them.

  • Or even glue it down and get a baby sb400, great compact speedlight, even has just about enough power, and a swivel to bounce for good indoor use :)

  • +1 to CrazyJames, fixation are ace.

  • yep. Fixation rule.
    Really good for rentals too.

  • fixation are stunningly good with Nikon repairs.

  • sorry to hijack slighty, I've got a couple of old braun super 8 camera's which I want to bring back from the dead and use again.
anyone know of any decent places to get them serviced/repaired?
