i had a posh mountainbike stolen a few years ago. it was pretty distinctive. saw it about a year afterwards, being ridden pretty much unchanged. didn't really know what to do and decided to let it go as the guy riding it was unlikely to be the guy who stole it. still wonder if that was the right thing to do.
