True say!
Back in the 70s, there was in France (and maybe in the UK) some mass produced Eddy Merckx (with very similar transfers than the real one) that were sold in supermarkets. I don't know what tubbing it was, but my mum had one, and it was quite heavy... The quality was "acceptable", specs were reasonnable for a supermarket bike (except for steel random heavy crankset, bottom of the range BB & headset - there was nice high flange hubs, mafac centre pull brakes...) , but nothing to go crazy about. You see a lot in France, like this one I pictured last month in Lille (this was a kid size bike)
So don't feel bad, and as said Coppithat, you are lucky...
....the mass produced ones branded in the 70's were made by Falcon Cycles under licence, sold loads through various outlets simply trading on the name
Loic

i hate this guy's description of the bike. it makes me want to punch him in the face (and i'm not normally prone to violence). and i dunno, it's a beautiful frame. but the build is a complete dog's dinner. mixing njs parts, oldschool campy parts and new hipster parts on a bike like this just looks wrong. none of the golds match. and they certainly don't match the chromed bits on the frame. the greens don't match. it's more bing than style.

Yep, I've got one of the Falcon/Mercx frames in light blue, will be built up for my summer beater. Decent enough frame and only cost me £25 or so.

I've just had a path frame painted in a flat enamel of that colour (the Colnago). I won't be putting any gold bits on it though. Silver and black bits and bobs ftw.

Shave the braze on's off, paint over the lugs, put some track ends on and fit it with twin Arrospoks, BMX bars and a rear brake and it'd be sweet! ;)
careful, you say things like that and you might have spudger to deal with.
get in..
yo spudger!
