    Back in the 70s, there was in France (and maybe in the UK) some mass produced Eddy Merckx (with very similar transfers than the real one) that were sold in supermarkets. I don't know what tubbing it was, but my mum had one, and it was quite heavy... The quality was "acceptable", specs were reasonnable for a supermarket bike (except for steel random heavy crankset, bottom of the range BB & headset - there was nice high flange hubs, mafac centre pull brakes...) , but nothing to go crazy about. You see a lot in France, like this one I pictured last month in Lille (this was a kid size bike)

    So don't feel bad, and as said Coppithat, you are lucky...

    ....the mass produced ones branded in the 70's were made by Falcon Cycles under licence, sold loads through various outlets simply trading on the name
