You're fine with the short cage - double/compact up to 13-26.
Medium for double/compact 13-29. Long for triple.
The A/B-Screw is the connoisseur's rear mech adjustment, and would always need to be altered if you changed the largest rear cog or chain length.
You basically adjust the angle of the mech until the upper jockey wheel gets as close to the largest cog (when that's engaged) as possible, without fouling it. Super crisp shifting is your reward.
