  • I don't know how many there are on here but I'm just curious to see what messengers/couriers use on a daily basis. From what i've seen they ride beaters (correct me if i'm wrong), i personally couldn't ride a shitter on a daily basis... just bored and curious. Cheers.

  • Bored eh?Fuck off out for a ride then,it's friday!

  • what you need to remember is that if you ride a bike for 10 hrs a day in a city filled with other vehicles...fumes,dirt,smog...locking it constantly to posts, railings etc....it's eventually gonna end up looking like a beater. :)

    +1

    I used to wrap all mine in 'leccy insulating tape for that exact reason.

  • This is me on my bike in the studio back in the late 1980s.

  • wouldn't it be easier to ask this question on moving target, thats where all the couriers are, some on here, but not that many in comparison.

    also search for ratbikes, just because the frame looks battered and bruised and maybe stickered to fuck, doesn't mean it's not had alot of thought put into the components so they'll stay the course..

  • I understand why it would look like shit, so it can be left outside for drop offs without worrying about it?

  • Expect messenger bike to be like this;

    usually classic old track frame that they found for not a lots of dosh (or road frame that likely to take a beating) with component that's either 2nd hand or build to last, but generally it can be anything really, the only difference as Scot said, are simply how it look - like a beater;

    yoo hoo, scot answered your question

    one day worth of couriering will make a sparking clean bike into a dirty little hussy, the last thing messenger cyclists rather do is to spend all evening cleaning up their bike after a hard day work!

  • fair point.
