Search for transmission database

That's the first thing I did. It didn't have the info I needed, so I created a new thread.

Measure it.

Sheldon Brown? Maybe put your query in the transmission database.

The rear hub should come with info on the chainline.
If the cranks use a 107mm JIS bottom bracket to give a 42mm chainline, then you will probably need something a bit longer.
hmmmm - just read this post, so perhaps just send a PM to eeeehhhhh for more information.
Then add info to chainline database! -

Ah, great. That's just what I needed. I'll probably still measure, as the road cranks I was using w/ a 115 BB and chainring in the outside position were too narrow for the Surly hub. But it's good to know that theoretically I should be able to use a 107mm BB.
Thanks,

p.s. - 42mm is for a flip-flop according to eeheheeheh, single-sided may be different.

i use an eno eccentric hub which has a stupendous 47mm chainline.
I needed a 118mm BB with Shimano 600 cranks to get the right chainline.
so u never know.best thing is to measure up, and buy accordingly.
Sheldon Brown has an article on measuring chainlines. Go read and go and do. Best thing ever.
Hi Everyone,
I am working on getting my town bike rebuilt after a respray. As I was getting it resprayed (complete w/ original 80s Bontrager decals) I decided to get some shiny new cranks and a new bottom bracket.
Can anyone advise on the best BB spindle length for the following combination:
Cranks: Stronglight Track 2000 (1/8" chainring)
Rear Hub: Surly 130mm
Sprocket: Dura Ace 1/8"
If you're running a similar setup, your advice would be great.
Thanks,
Eli
